Tips for Hosting the Best Cricket Viewing Party

The ICC Cricket World Cup is right around the corner and no matter which team you support, a viewing party is the ultimate way to bring you family and friends together for a night of fun.

Venue:

While we don't all have cricket pitches in our gardens, being outdoors is a must for a good cricket party. A large screen and projector make the perfect backdrop and are must-have accessories for a viewing party. However, if celebrating indoors is in line with your ideal party, then embrace it with our cricket-themed decorations.

Food and Drinks:

Cold beer and a hot meal are the hallmarks of a successful cricket party, whether you're hosting it inside or out. Eskies and bags of ice are essential for keeping drinks cold - why not keep things festive with our inflatable beer mug coolers? If you're hosting your party outdoors, consider serving traditional Aussie fare with a sausage sizzle, or a barbecue, complete with sliders, steaks or shrimp to offset the beer - this is an ideal option if your viewing party is going to last a while.

For dessert, few things are more apt for a cricket final viewing party than cupcakes decorated to look like cricket balls. This is easily achieved with a little buttercream icing, red food colouring, a piping bag and your imagination.

Decorations:

The great thing about hosting a cricket party, especially one outdoors, if that you needn't worry much about decorations. If your viewing party is going to run late into the night, consider putting up some fairy lights to keep things cozy and ambient. Serve your food on cricket-themed paper plates, cups and serviettes for easy clean-up (and no dishes!) after the event.

Ask your guests to get into the party spirit by dressing in team colours, or wearing the cricket jerseys of their favourite players. Host a cricket-themed pub quiz over dinner to keep the merriment going, with the winner scoring a gold trophy in honour of their cricket knowledge.

The main idea is to keep your party feeling nice and relaxed (particularly during such an intense match!) so kick back, relax and make sure you've brought enough beer to keep you going!
