Halloween: Trick and Treat Safety Tips!

Halloween: Trick and Treat Safety Tips!

Halloween is coming up. And this means youngsters will be out on the streets for trick and treat.

While fun and heart-warming, trick and treats can be dangerous. The reason for that is because children naturally lack street smarts.

They’re not good at spotting dangers. And they may struggle to safeguard themselves.

As a guardian (or older sibling), safeguarding Halloween children is a must. And below, we’re going to provide you some tips to help you with that!

(1) Costume Preparations.

You have to pick a costume for your kid that fits.

Costumes that are too long will make it difficult for them to walk. They risk tripping and injuring themselves.

Another risk is damage to sensitive parts of the body. Eyes are a good example, where a lot of costume fans wear contact lens.

You may want to hold off the contact lens for children. They might be better equipped to wear them if they’ve older…

Also, avoid placing sharp objects or accessories close to sensitive areas. And finally, check costume fabric, and make sure that nothing is allergic to your child.

(2) Before Heading Out…

Make sure your child has a cellphone. This is in case of an emergency, or if they need to call for help.

A cellphone allows you to communicate with your child whenever you wish. You can check on them every now and then, especially if they’re picking up a lot of sweets…

If you’re a little too worried, let your child hang around familiar neighborhoods. Avoid areas that you or your kid do not know.

Also, make sure you child is hanging out in a pack. And you can coordinate with other guardians to organize that pack…

(3) After They Head Out…

You can drive them by car to neighborhoods if you wish. And you can stick around to safeguard them from afar (if they’re too young).

As for extra supervision, try getting a GPS device for their trick and treat baskets. They probably won’t notice them. And it’s an extra addition that won’t hurt.
