Celebrate Liberty, Equality and Fraternity this Bastille Day! – Party Savers

Celebrate Liberty, Equality and Fraternity this Bastille Day!

Bastille Day is around the corner and it marks the storming of the Bastille prison on the 14th of July, 1789. Bastille Day marked a turning point in the French Revolution,  and is now celebrated all over the world. In France, the day is known as "la fête nationale", or "the national holiday".

In France, the day begins with a military parade at the Arc de Triomphe and concludes with fireworks over the Eiffel Tower, with concerts, balls and picnics aplenty in between to mark the occasion. French people take advantage of the day off by celebrating with friends and family over a picnic, playing lively games such as pétanque, a type of boules, in parks or backyards.

Bastille Day is also celebrated in Australia; while there aren't any military parades for us, the day is celebrated in Sydney at the Sydney Bastille Festival (12-15 July) and the Bastille Day French Festival (14-15 July) in Melbourne.

Party Savers has all your Bastille Bay party needs sorted, with a range of decorations to celebrate in style! With a variety of festive tableware, cutlery, decorations, and costumes, your celebration is sure to be a memorable event.

Hosting a light picnic with traditional French fare is the ideal way to celebrate Bastille Day this weekend. What could be better than a leisurely afternoon in the park, eating cheeses, sandwiches, charcuterie, pastries and ratatouille, and drinking champagne and mulled wine? Round off your picnic with a traditional French dessert, like macaroons, mille-feuille, or eclairs. For a low-effort alternative, why not serve cakes or cupcakes decorated with small French flags

Quiz your friends and family on their knowledge of France and French history with a casual French trivia game. Separate into teams and play individually, offering a bottle of French wine or a special dessert as the prize.

Tech-savvy readers can livestream the Bastille Day parade, screening it on a projector to be watched during the picnic. Alternatively, your picnic could be followed by a movie night showcasing the best of French cinema, like La Vie an Rose, Amélie, or Midnight in Paris.

However you choose to celebrate, Party Savers has all the supplies you need! Be sure to visit us online or in store, located in Chatswood.
